The Higher Ways of the Spirit – Peace
March 22, 2105
What does a life that is filled with the fruit of peace look like?
If we are not sowing more peace in the world, think about the alternative seeds we might be sowing: discord, division, animosity, strife, contention, conflict, tension and intolerance to name a few.

Kindness – is an act or behavior that demonstrates concern
Goodness is doing what is right (not moral actions, but in our interactions and exchanges with others).
Kindness is doing something above and beyond…that is why it is often called a wonderful gift.

In many Muslim cultures, when you want to ask them how they’re doing, you ask: in Arabic, Kayf haal-ik? or, in Persian, Haal-e shomaa chetoreh? How is your haal? Howard Thurman was the John the Baptist to Martin Luther King Jr., the grandfather of African American nonviolence, a Gandhian, Christian, mystic, poet, and preacher.
Like Tolystoy he became a Christian mystic, making a large distinction between "the religion of Jesus," which "offers me very many ways out of the world's disorders"--and Christianity. He felt God directly in nature, much like Emerson's "Original Experience"; a Chrisitian beyond Christianity: "the things that are true in any religious experience are to be found in that religious experience precisely because they are true; they are not true simply because they are found in that religious experience...this is not to say that all religions are one and the same, but it is to say that the essence of religious experience is unique, comprehensible, and not delimiting."
